6:30 AM – Depart from Arusha or Moshi
Leave early for the drive to Marangu Gate. From Arusha, it’s about 2.5 hours; from Moshi, around 1 hour. Along the way, enjoy views of villages, coffee farms, and Kilimanjaro’s foothills.

9:00 AM – Arrive at Marangu Gate (1,860m)
Check in at the park gate. Your guide will handle registration while you prep for the hike. A short safety briefing follows.

9:30 AM – Begin Hike into the Rainforest Zone
Start your trek along the Marangu Route. The trail is well-maintained and winds through thick rainforest with moss-covered trees, colorful birds, and the chance to spot colobus monkeys.

11:30 AM – Midpoint Break
Stop briefly for water and a snack along the trail. This helps pace the climb and gives you time to soak in the lush surroundings.

1:00 PM – Reach Mandara Hut (2700m)
Arrive at the hut after a steady 3–4 hour hike. Enjoy your packed lunch here. On a clear day, you might catch a glimpse of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Explore the nearby Maundi Crater if you feel up to a short extra walk.

2:00 PM – Begin Descent
Start the return trek down the same path, retracing your steps through the misty rainforest.

4:30 PM – Arrive Back at Marangu Gate
Check out with the park rangers and meet your driver.

5:00 PM – Depart for Arusha or Moshi
Begin the drive back, tired but satisfied after a great day on the mountain.

6:30–7:00 PM – Arrive Back at Your Hotel
Return to your hotel in time to relax and reflect on a day spent on Africa’s tallest mountain—without needing to summit.
