How long is the drive from Arusha or Moshi to Tarangire?

From Arusha, it's about 2 to 2.5 hours. From Moshi, it can take closer to 4 hours, so starting early is key to make the most of the day.

What wildlife can I expect to see in one day?

Tarangire is famous for elephants, but you’re also likely to see giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, impalas, lions, and a wide range of birdlife. During the dry season, animals gather around the river in large numbers.

Is the park crowded like Serengeti or Ngorongoro?

No. One of Tarangire’s biggest appeals is its peaceful atmosphere. It's less visited, so you can enjoy wildlife sightings without lots of other vehicles around.

Do I need special gear or clothing?

No special gear is needed. Wear neutral colored clothing, comfortable shoes, a hat, and bring sunscreen and binoculars if you have them. A camera is a must the scenery is stunning.
