Not so smoothly organized and unsafe The pick-up from the airport and the first day of the safari went excellently. Unfortunately, after the first day, things didn’t go so smoothly. Three additional passengers were added to our jeep, making a total of seven passengers plus the driver. This caused delays in the schedule, as the driver constantly had to unpack and repack the passengers’ luggage into the cramped vehicle. The lack of space also made the ride uncomfortable for the passengers. On the evening of the second safari day, the driver first dropped off two passengers at one camp, then drove about 30 minutes to another camp to drop off two more passengers. After that, we drove another 30 minutes to a third camp, where the remaining three of us were supposed to stay. When the camp staff began explaining the rules, we were suddenly told that this was the wrong camp. We were not allowed to stay there, even though we offered to pay extra for the accommodation. Next, we drove back to the camp we had visited earlier and dropped off one passenger there. After that, my travel companion and I had to sit for another hour while the driver searched for our correct camp. We arrived at the camp at 9:30 PM, completely exhausted. The next morning, we had to wake up at 6 AM and have breakfast eaten by 6:15 AM. It was very difficult for us to get enough rest before the next day because we arrived so late at our accommodation. We also felt unsafe as the driver was driving around in the dark across the savannah looking for our camp. He seemed lost the entire time. On the last day, we were supposed to reach the airport by 5 PM. We had informed the driver about this two days earlier and reminded him again the night before. The driver kept assuring us that he would get us to Kilimanjaro Airport by 5 PM. On the return day, when we realized the schedule wasn’t working out, we told the driver that there was no way we’d make it to the airport by 5 PM. We were still in Ngorongoro when the driver insisted, “Yes, yes, we’ll make it to the airport by 5 PM.” The driver dropped off two passengers at a hotel and picked up a new passenger on the way back. We started to worry because we hadn’t even reached Arusha yet, and it was already 3:15 PM. We told the driver clearly several times that he had promised to get us to the airport by 5 PM. He responded confidently and repeatedly that we would be there on time. We checked many times Google Maps, which showed we would arrive at the airport at 6:30 PM. We showed this to the driver, but he simply said Google Maps was wrong. He insisted we would arrive at 5 PM. We reached Arusha at 5 PM, so it was impossible to get to the airport by then. The driver had lied to us straight to our faces. After that, we got another ride from Arusha to the airport, and we finally arrived at 6:30 PM. That ride was frightening and felt very unsafe. The driver was speeding and made dangerous overtakes. There were many near misses, and we were genuinely scared. Our stress levels were extremely high when we finally reached the airport. Luckily, our flight was delayed, and we made it in time. We didnt get any refund or compensation after this trip. Amazing! Wir haben eine eintägige Safari im Ngorogoro-Nationalpark gebucht. Unser Guide und Fahrer, James, ging hierbei spontan und flexibel auf unsere Wünsche ein. Wir haben uns von Anfang an aufgrund seiner aufgeschlossenen und positiven Art wohlgefühlt. Er ist ein lokaler Guide direkt aus Karatu und kennt sich somit bestens aus was Natur, Kultur und Geschichte angeht. Family 2 kids 2 adults 6 days safari We booked 6 days safari experience in 4 people, 2 kids and 2 adults and we are all very happy with the safari. We were able to see many animals from very close and wildebeests migration a few times even and that was amazing, also the landscapes were stunning. We were also very pleased with the accommodations, all of them. Our guide Abu was very engaged, he really cared about seeing all the attractions and for us to feel comfortable and looked after. He was always answering all of our questions in an interesting way and often funny which made us become friends with him. We are very happy with the service, even if we had some challenges with the car, Abu was finding the solutions quickly and smoothly in a professional way. Trip Beyond Everything I expected I have just come back from a 6-day luxury safari in Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. To say that it was an exceptionally unforgettable trip would be an understatement; No other travel experience comes close to this one. The safari was extremely well organized from the very start. Our guide was personable, extremely knowledgeable about the places we visited, warm, and considerate. He certainly knew how to drive, with every journey feeling customized and meticulously designed for us and every question we had received thorough answers. The magnificent baobab dotted landscape with Tarangire’s elephants, Serengeti’s boundless golden plains and the sheer scope of the wildebeest migration, and Ngorongoro Craters ridiculous beauty all blew me away. In addition to that, and all of this while viewing the Big Five and countless other spectacular that seemed to be out of a movie. The rest of the accommodations were as breathtaking as the sights.
